Peter Jason Quill, also known as Star-Lord, mostly referred to as Quill is a character and the main protagonist of Disney-Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy. He is portrayed by main cast members Chris Pratt and supporting cast member Wyatt Oleff.
Peter is based on the character of the same name from the Guardians of the Galaxy comics. Peter also alludes to the son from the song "Father and Son" by Cat Stevens.

- Superhuman Durability: Ability to physically withstand exposure to what would normally kill a human.
- Multilingual: Ablity to understand languages. Peter has the baility to understand other life forms through the translator implant on his neck. He is able to understand Groot.
Former Abilities[]
- Immortality: An everlasting life. Can only be killed if his true form is destroyed. Peter lost this ability after Ego is killed.
- Molecular Manipulation: Ability to manipulate the matter. He formed himself to be able to punch his father with a rock fist and turned himself into a giant Pac-Man
- Shape-shifting: Ability to change forms.
- Energy Manipulation: The ability to manipulate energy and drawing energy from a planet.
- Self-Augmentation: Ability to enhance physical strength and durability, almost to the point where you are immune.

Etymology[]
- The name "Peter" is of Greek origin, derived from the Greek word "petros", which translates to "stone." [1]
- The name "Jason" is of Greek origin, coming from the Greek name "Iason," which was derived from the greek word "iasthai," meaning "to heal".[2]
- In the original comics, Peter's father's name was Jason.
- Peter's adopted the outlaw name, "Star-Lord," a nickname his mother used to call him when he was little.

- Peter was born in the last few months 1980, and is eight years old in the flashback. Since the movie takes place in 2014, Peter is approximately thirty-four years old by the time of the movie (Guardians of the Galaxy, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2)
- In Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, Peter is confirmed to be thirty-four years old. [3]
- Peter named his ship after his childhood crush, Alyssa Milano [4].
- Peter is one of the few characters to understand what Groot is saying [5] [6].
Cultural references[]
- Quill refers to David Hasselhoff and the show, Knight Rider, several times in the film.
- Peter says he used to tell other children that his father was David Hasslehoff, and that he was either touring Europe with his band or filming for the show, Knight Rider.
- Ego does transform into Hasselhoff
- During Yondu's funeral, Peter calls Yondu Hasselhoff and compares Yondu's yaka arrow with KITT, the talking car from the same TV show.

- When Peter and Yondu are floating down to safety from their destroyed spacecraft, Quill calls his adopted father "Mary Poppins", a reference to the character portrayed by Julie Andrews (Mary Poppins, 1964).
Goofs[]
- Even though Peter says that Yondu has been throwing in his face for twenty years of saving him from other Ravagers as a child, Quill was actually living with Yondu and the other guardians for twenty-six years.
