Meredith Quill, also known as Brandy and River Lily, is a character in Guardians of the Galaxy and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. She is portrayed by Laura Haddock.

Meredith is based on the character of the same name from the Guardians of the Galaxy comics, Earth 616 universe. Meredith also alludes to Brandy from the song "Brandy, You're a Fine Girl" by Looking Glass.

Meredith is a young woman who meets and falls in love with the Celestial Ego. Together, they concieve a child. One day, he takes Meredith to the site where he planted a part of him. Meredith gladly states its beautiful as Ego tells her he was afraid it wouldn't lay waste to the

Some months later, Meredith gives birth to a son and names him Peter. When he is born, Ego leaves the planet to go to his homeworld. Meredith is left to raise Peter on her own. After Peter gets into numerous fights with boys, Meredith gifts her son with a Walkman with her favorite songs growing up. While raising Peter, they often go to a secluded field listening to the music (Guardians of the Galaxy, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2)

Ego visits Meredith at least three times, but plants a tumor in her head to prevent himself from ever visiting earth again. Meredith is later diagnosed with brain cancer. 

Twenty-six years later, when Peter is at the brink of death while holding an Infinity Stone, he hullicinates his mother begging to take his hand. In reality, its his friend Gamora yelling at him to take her hand.
